If one day  you woke up not knowing who you were, what would you be left with? Nothing. Your identity would be completely gone. That’s exactly what Satan is trying to do to all of us daily. He knows how special you are to Jesus, so he takes your self-confidence, self-identity, and self-worth and twists it.

1 Peter 2:4-5 says, “As you come to him, a living stone rejected by men but in the sight of God chosen and precious, you yourselves like living stones are being built up as a spiritual house, to be a holy priesthood, to offer spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.”

According to scripture, we ARE worthy, loved, important, saved, forgiven, and much more. But it’s easy for us to believe the things that we hear. All it takes is walking through the halls at school and hearing things in your head like, “You should look like that girl” or “Why don’t you dress like her?” and our self-worth and identity in Christ starts to fade away. Throughout your whole life, people will try to mold and shape you into what they think you should be, but as followers of Jesus, we need to stand strong and know that every negative thing that comes to mind is not from God, it’s from Satan. If Satan can make you mad, angry, resentful, all of the above, he knows he has you in the right spot and you’ll miss your true identity.

The opinions of other people can also knock you off track. Don’t hear the negative words of people and choose to believe it. Know who you are and choose to believe that you are more than what they say you are. In God’s eyes, you are precious.

Blaise Pascal once said, “Not only do we know God through Jesus Christ, but we only know ourselves through Jesus Christ. We only know life and death through Jesus Christ. Apart from Jesus we cannot know the meaning of our life, the meaning of our death, the meaning of God, or the meaning of ourselves. It is only in Christ.”

Think about that.

Only one being has the right to stamp an identity on you. And let me tell you, it’s not yourself, not the kids at school, not anyone but God Himself. So walk in it.

1 Peter 2:9 states, “You have been chosen by God Himself!”

You are completely forgiven, 100% able, loved with unstoppable love, accepted, valuable, and chosen. So, don’t pay attention to the lies that the enemy feeds you. Be confident that you are all that God says you are. Jesus did not die on the cross for trash, but a beautiful masterpiece like yourself!
